OVERHEAD OBSTRUCTIONS AND
CLOSE CLEARANCES

FOLLOWING IS A LIST OF OVERHEAD STRUCTURES UNDER OR THROUGH WHICH A PERSON CANNOT SAFELY PASS WHILE STANDING ERECT ON TOP OF A CAR; TRAINMEN ARE CAUTIONED ACCORDINGLY:

Mt. PleasantNo. 10 track, unloading crane does not afford proper clearance when swung out over track. Crews will see that crane is swung back from over the track and secured with the cable before switching cars beyond water tank.

Employes are cautioned to keep lookout for close clearances on all tracks, and must not ride on side of cars at points where there are freight platforms, buildings, coal docks and structures located. They must also look out for close clearances in yards and on sidings in case that cars do not properly clear an employe riding on side of car.

On straight track........35 miles per hour

On Curves............30milesperhour

Trains handling Derrick 3187, pile driver, ore cars loaded, cars with short wheel base, such as locoino tive cranes, Wabash scale car or top heavy machinery loaded on flat cars................20 miles perhour

Trains handling dead engines with all side rods disconnected, one or both sides.................15 miles per hour

Work trains handling American Ditcher...............20 miles per hour

Trains handling loads of poles that exceed 13 feet from top of rail.............30 miles per hour

All engines backing:
On straight track...............25 miles per hour
On curves...............20 miles per hour

Engines without pilots............30 miles per hour

In and Out of Sidings............10 miles per hour

Engines without engine truck.............15 miles per hour

Engines having side rods disconnected or removed from one side and operating under its own power................15 miles per hour

Freight power handling passenger trains:
L-2..............30 miles per hour; on curves 25 miles per hour

1-6...............35 miles per hour;
on curves...............30 miles per hour

1-4 and 5..............45 miles per hour;
on curves.............40 miles per hour

K-2-6-7..............50 miles per hour;
on curves..........45 miles per hour


TRACK RESTRICTIONS

Locomotives are restricted from using tracks as follows:

Dundee Lead to Mill L-2 class

Pittsfield - Transfer track - L-2 class

Ann Arbor - Huron River Bridge - Engines larger than the I-6 class coupled

Bartons - Pit track all engines west of tipple

Hamburg - Coal track - L-2 class

Lakeland - G.T. Tracks L-2 class

Chilson Wye - L-2 class
Back track - all engines beyond coal dock

Howell No. 3 track L-2 class
Parshall, *Peavy, Sugar and Lumber tracks -
engines larger than I-4-5 class
*Peavys track restricted for 1-4-5 class engines beyond north line of Wetmore Street

Durand -- Oil track - L-2 class

Vernon -- Stock track L-2 c1ass

Corunna -- Weatherproof Body Co. tracks -- all engines larger than the H-4 class

Owosso - Shiawassee River Bridge all engines larger than the I-6 class and when handling derrick 3187 across bridge one car must be placed between engine and derrick
All industrial and repair tracks all engines larger than H-4 class

Ashley - East Elevator track I-6 class or larger

North Star -Elevator track I-6 class or larger beyond crossing at west end of coal shed

Ithaca Litte elevator track -- I-4 and 5 class or larger
Alma beet track I-6 class or larger

Alma Sugar Co. tracks 2, 5 and 7 K-2-6-7 class or larger

Mt. Pleasant No. 2 track--I-4-5 class or larger beyond 100 feet back of frog.

Cadillac - Huckleberry and Watson Trestle I-4-5 class or larger
