Morrice is located in southern Shiawassee County along Grand River Ave. just south of M-69, about ten miles from Lansing. This is an adjunct community to the greater Lansing area, and it is on the grow with a burgeoning residential population and school system.
Morrice was named after the Morrice Brothers, William, John, George, and Alexander, who moved here in 1838 from Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It was officially platted in 1877, the same year the railroad came through, like many towns in Michigan. It was incorporated into a village in 1884.
