Frank Gilbert

This steam powered threshing machine was owned by Mr. Frank J. Gilbert, who lived near New Lothrop, was a life long resident of Hazelton Township. He was born in 1878 and died in 1959.

This machine was used to thresh the crops harvested from many of the Shiawassee County farms in the early 1900's.

The people in the picture are from left to right : unknown, Caroline Bush Safford (mother of Rose), Rose Safford Gilbert, Jack Gilbert, Beatrice Gilbert, Jeff Gilbert and Frank J Gilbert.

Mr. Gilbert also served on the County Road Commission. Thanks to Frank's Great, Great Grandaughter Julie L. Cabo, of Florida, who provided the wonderful photos.
